Before you even say a word, your attire has revealed many of your personality traits to those around you. Find out what these traits are and how to talk them up.
The “architecture of your look,” the blueprint by which you dress up, has been important from the beginning of society, and will remain so forever. After completing my workshop, Very Chic: The Secrets of Elegance, a personal assistant walked up to me and said, “Sheyla, mom never taught me about image. No one ever talked to me about its importance. And then, during your workshop, I realized how important it is, not only for professional and romantic success, but especially to be successful in my relationship with myself.” I was very excited to hear her comment, because I strongly believe that since our childhood we must learn to be well groomed, dress well, and show elegance with our body language. But what does the care you place in your image say about you? At the very least, it reveals the following traits: • The awareness that you’re special and unique. You find and develop your own style. • How much you like your own beauty. Therefore, you must be your own greatest admirer. • Your self-esteem. “Love yourself with eyes open,” in the words of Argentinian psychologist Jorge Bucay. • Your level of refinement. Have you ever seen Queen Elizabeth in rags? • Your socioeconomic status. That said, good taste does not depend only on the amount of money you can spend on clothes. • The respect you pay to yourself. The self-respecting woman is always neat and tidy, even when she’s sick or depressed. In short, if you wonder why you cannot land that second interview, or why it is that promotions escape you, or why the guy of your dreams hasn’t found you yet, then try to find pleasure in getting ready every morning with clothes, makeup, and fragrance, and rediscover the wonder of being a woman!
