PROFESSIONAL LIFE

In this section we study how to earn the respect and admiration of others through work ethics, legitimacy, credibility, and a job well done.

Who are you when you talk?
Think of a woman you admire.

Now think of her look, her voice, her mannerisms, and her glance. Are they part of the reason you admire her? Are you inspired by her intelligence and professional success, or do you also admire the way she carries herself, her manners, and her charisma?

In my case, it’s a little of both. I like to see a woman who enjoys culture and education and who displays impeccable taste in dress and conversation. Through our image we broadcast our values; through our manners we show the touch we have for treating others. My favorite example of this is Queen Rania of Jordan.

This lady, wife, mother, businesswoman, and standard-bearer for Muslim women shows how every woman can project a queen when communicating with others, if she adopts the qualities evident in Queen Rania:

•    Self-confidence
•    Charisma
•    Care for her image

Self-confidence

Contrary to popular belief, self-confidence is a skill and you can learn to be self-confident. Of course, there are those who are seemingly born with it, and I can say from experience that they tend to have felt loved, respected, and affirmed by their childhood guardians. Self-confidence is directly related to self-esteem.

Charisma

Charisma can be trained. However, there are people with an innate charisma, such as Eleanor Roosevelt, a woman who moved the masses without being particularly attractive. Charisma goes far beyond surface attributes. It is an interior quality that ties in with a person’s goodness, empathy, and service to others. Queen Rania of Jordan and Princess Máxima of the Netherlands are two examples of this.

Personal care

Personal care is needed to have a high self-esteem, to be respected and listened to, and to have a successful love life. Within my own philosophy of personal care, the most important element – much more so than your shopping budget or your eye for fashion – is neatness and the interplay of elements in the totality of your personal projection.

I invite you to participate in my workshop “Very Chic: The Secrets of Elegance and Personal Care” to learn more.
